FOOD COLLECTIONS 2022
Every year, usually at the end of November – early December, many FEBA members organise a national Food Collection in collaboration with retailers. During this occasion, citizens are invited to make a gesture of solidarity by purchasing food when they are grocery shopping and donating it to the Food Banks. Food Collections are only made possible by the collaboration of thousands of supermarkets and retailers and the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of volunteers and millions of citizens.
Considering Europe has been heavily impacted by the effects of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine, especially at this moment in time Food Collections are extremely important to collect specific food products and raise awareness among the citizens about food waste and food insecurity.

The food collection from Food Bank Albania is organised this year in stores and supermarkets with volunteers. The campaign is called “Dhuro aty ky je! Donate right where you are!”

The food collection is organised in Delhaize shops, with the presence of volunteers from 24 November to 21 December. Your support is essential for helping 200.000 people in need s via more than 600 affiliated charitable organisations.

The Food Collection is a day of solidarity where everyone can help in the simplest way, by donating non-perishable food and drugstore items.

The food collection is organised in 8.000 shops across the country. For the second year in a row, donors can support the action of the Food Banks by offering a basket to the most precarious on monpaniersolidaire.org and thus contribute to the National Collection online. This financial donation will be used to purchase food products. Online donations are open until 15 December!

During the food collection, every day REWE stores donate fresh food that is no longer sold but can still be eaten without hesitation to the local Tafel food banks. Customers can buy a bag with non-perishable food for 5 €.

We organize the collection in 354 stores, 135 cities. Volunteers from the organizations contracted with us will collect the food in each store. Some companies that support us throughout the year will also send volunteers to one of the stores.

- Luxembourg
Food collections are regularly organised during the year in single supermarkets. Supporting Banque alimentaire de Luxembourg, you contribute to help persons in need in our country.

The Food Bank in Moldova is organising the food collection on November 26th, 2022, in the Kaufland store network in Chisinau and other cities in the country.

During Christmas Food Collection 2022 Federation of Polish Food Banks will concentrate on helping refugees and the Poles highly affected by inflation. We plan to organise stationary food collections in the proximity of the 32 Food Banks located in the whole of Poland and modernize food collection online charity shop.

The Portuguese Food Banks run the food collection in 3 ways: with volunteers in the shops, with vouchers in the supermarkets and online.
- Romania

Lidl Romania in partnership with the Food Banks Federation from Romania – FBAR organise a Food Collection to support the people in need. Lidl’s cistomers are invited to donate non-perishable food products in the boxes near the exit of the stores. The products collected will be distributed through the Regional Food Banks from Romania to the NGOs partners.

Food collection will be organised in cooperation with 10 – 15 food business organisation, where there employees and companies staff will collect the food items. Afterward, they will deliver the collected items to our premises on various location, or the collected food will be pick up by our food bank volunteers.

LA Gran Recogida is a national event in which 100,000 volunteers and 11,000 supermarkets participate. Whether as a volunteer or as a donor, it is time to demonstrate the solidarity of Spanish society. It is also possible to support by an online donation from 25 November until 25 December.
- United Kingdom

The Tesco Food Collection is a bi-annual, national event which collects vital store-cupboard food items to be redistributed to charitable causes across the UK. Our volunteers undertake 3 hour shifts where they encourage customers to donate during their weekly shop – we know stores with volunteers collect more food than those without! In an average three-hour volunteer shift, you could collect enough food for 600 meals! In 2021 the collections generated enough food to help FareShare provide the equivalent of over 838,826 meals!
